Gregory Hutchinson

                    Playing Standards

Here at the agency I am really excited about this new trio. A trio feat. Some of the finest jazz players from both the Danish and american scene, building on a long musical tradition between these two musical worlds/countries, that started back in the 60s with american jazz musicians living in Copenhagen such as Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, the old Jazzhus Montmarte. , Kenny Drew and many others.

Gregory Hutchinson
CarstenDahl is among the greatest pianists on the European jazz scene. He has stirred international attention together with Mads Vinding and Alex Riel and, most recently, he has taken Montmartre by storm with the star bassist Eddie Gomez.
And earlier this year the lengedary Jazzhus Montmartre set up the musical meeting with Dahl and Gregory Hutchinson and Rueben Rogers taking on the standard repertoire. Offering his own suggestion of a sound between Copenhagen and New York.
Montmartre has a venerated tradition of this sort of meetings. Just think about Kenny Drew with Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Alex Riel.

Now the trio returns to Copenhagen and Jazzhus Montmarte. In feb 2014 the trio will be back playing standards, and this time also record the show. The recording is scheduled for release via Storyville Records in 2014.

He is a musician’s drummer, soundly rooted in the jazz tradition he is able to approach all styles of music with supreme accuracy and imagination, decorating compositions with his natural feel and mind blowing innovation.

ReubenRogers'(bas) ability to transport the emotion of a piece into his accompaniment is akin to that of a fine woven tapestry, creating a blanket of rhythm and harmony that is welcomed by vocalists and instrumentalists alike.
Reuben Rogers

From a hard-hitting groove to a featherlike touch, with each interjection, Rogers echoes an affirmation of the soloist's statement, rendering a musical conversation in which the narrative is smoothly passed. has enjoyed the opportunity of intense musical relationships with jazz artists of world-renown, such as Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman, Marcus Roberts, Nicholas Payton, Mulgrew Miller, Jackie McLean, Charles Lloyd and Dianne Reeves, amongst others. Rogers' peers continue to influence and enrich his musical style and direction. He has toured extensively all over the globe, and has recorded on over 70 CDs.
